The University Archive collects, preserves, and makes available official and historical records of the University of North Texas. This includes photographs, university publications, institutional records from departments on campus, University Presidents’ papers, faculty papers, yearbooks, artifacts, and other materials of enduring value from the founding of the college through present day.
Stories from the rich history of the University of North Texas told through the lens of our archival collections can be found in the 125 Year Archival Retrospective.
Notable Collections
University Photography Collection - thousands of digitized photos from the earliest days of the university through recent years \ University Memory Collection - digital materials documenting the campus experience contributed by students, alumni, staff, and other community members \ North Texas Newspapers - digitized student newspapers from the first Campus Chat in 1916 through modern day \ North Texas Yearbooks - digitized yearbooks from the first published in 1906 until publication ceased in 2007 \ Project Mortarboard - digital images of graduation caps creatively decorated and worn by University of North Texas students \ Center for Media Production Collection - hundreds of digitized photos and videos produced on campus from 1980 to 2009 supporting classroom instruction, advertising, distributive learning, and promotion of the university
Faculty Papers
George Hendricks Papers - Papers of George David Hendricks concerning material on the American West and Folklore including articles, bibliography, book jackets, publications, drawings, maps, and photographs.
Larry Naylor Papers - The papers and research of UNT Anthropology department chair and faculty member, Dr. Larry Naylor.
Marilyn A. Morris Papers - The collection consists of research and lecture notes, literature excerpts, magazine clippings, newspaper articles, and other ephemera related to Morris' course subjects (18th century British society and culture, the French revolution, Benjamin Franklin, gender studies, and lesbian and gay history) and research for her publications.
Rafael Toledo Papers - Dr. Raphael Toledo was a faculty member in the Psychology Department. The collection includes papers, correspondence, articles, publications and photographs concerning Toledo's work on the Zapotlán Project, as well as his work with communities in Ghana. Publications and films related to automobile child safety are also included in this collection.

The University Archive preserves both official university records and the stories, experiences, and moments that define life at UNT. Here’s how you can help:
Institutional Records
As mandated by the Board of Regents, institutional records of enduring value should be transferred to the University Archives in accordance with the Records Retention Schedule.
Examples of records that may be appropriate for transfer include department publications, photographs, reports, broadcasts, and biographical materials (such as faculty vitas).
All institutional records transfers must include an approved Final Disposition Log.

Cultural Materials
The University Archive actively collects materials that document campus culture and the student experience. Contributions from students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community members help ensure that UNT’s history reflects the full range of experiences on campus. Your materials help us tell a more complete story of UNT.
Examples include records from student organizations, scrapbooks, photographs, letters, event flyers, audiovisual materials, and artifacts.
Donations of cultural materials must be accompanied by a signed Gift Agreement.
Please contact Special Collections to discuss potential donations.
Submit Digital Materials
Individual files and small groups of digital materials can be uploaded through the Keeper Web App.
The University of North Texas no longer publishes a yearbook, making Keeper an important way to document student life today. Help us document student life by contributing photos, videos, documents, and other materials.
For larger groups of digital records, please contact the University Archivist to request a secure file transfer link. In some cases, transfer via external hard drive is also appropriate.
Submissions may be made available through the UNT Digital Library and Portal to Texas History as part of the University Memory Collection.
Suggest Websites for Archiving
Some information only exists online, and websites can change or disappear over time. The University Archive preserves selected web content through its Archive-It collection.
