University of North Texas Libraries Research Fellowships - The Portal to Texas History

The Portal to Texas History Research Fellowship

The University of North Texas Libraries invites applications for The Portal to Texas History Research Fellowship. With disciplines spanning from history and geography to filmmaking and photography, the Fellowship broadly supports both scholarly research and creative output. We encourage applicants to envision the opportunities that working with large digital library collections can enable. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate the greatest potential for publication or exhibition and the best use of the digital collections at the UNT Libraries including The Portal to Texas History and the UNT Digital Library.

The Award

Up to $2,000 in funding will be awarded to two or more fellowship applicants. The Portal Fellowship was created to recognize and support outstanding scholarship and creative work that incorporates unique digital collections. The project’s contribution to the applicant’s field, the original use of Portal or Digital Library content, and its intended audience will be considered when deciding awardees. Fellows will be required to write a brief overview of their research experience (under 500 words) and may also be asked to present an informal lecture (in person or remotely) on their research or an exhibit of their creative work. The Portal to Texas History Research Fellowship is funded by the Cathy Nelson Hartman Portal to Texas History Endowment.
