Background

UNT Libraries is a top-tier research library that acquires quality collections that support research and teaching. They provide various formats of collections across multiple locations. They prioritize acquiring, preserving, and providing access to diverse information sources while also adhering to the American Library Association’s Freedom to Read Statement, emphasizing the importance of access to different ideas and expressions.

Process

Anyone wishing that the library reconsider materials must fill out a Reconsideration of Library Materials form. The form is reviewed by a subject librarian and the Head of Collection Development, who then make a recommendation to the Dean of Libraries for a final decision. The Head of Collection Development notifies the requester of the decision within three months. Once a decision is made, materials will not be reconsidered again.
