
Kathryn R. Lynass

Kathryn R. Lynassreceived her PhD in History from Arizona State University, her MA in History from the University of North Texas, and her BA in History from the University of Texas, Austin. Since 1995, she has taught at various universities as an adjunct and as tenure-track faculty, including University of Maryland University College Asian Division (UMUC, Yokota AB, Japan), Grand Canyon University (Phoenix, AZ), Arizona State University (Tempe and West campuses), University of North Texas (graduate classes in History), Texas Woman’s University (undergraduate and graduate classes in History), and Southern New Hampshire University. Kate has taught in Asian Studies for UMGC (University of Maryland Global College) online since January 2008. Kate has minors in art history, classical civilization, and Asian history.
In addition to teaching, Kate is currently the Grants Officer and Interim Chief Advancement Officer at the Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas. She has raised over $10 million in grants and individual or corporate donations since 2019. Mandated by the Texas Family Code to exist, the Advocacy Center coordinates a multidisciplinary response to felony-level child abuse. Kate is a member or officer of a number of non-profit or community groups, including the Denton Evening Rotary Club, Denton Main Street, and the North Texas Chapter of Grants Professional Association. She is never happier than when travelling, reading, or working in her garden.
