Eva Poole joined the City of Virginia Beach (VA) as Executive Director of Libraries on August 16, 2013, and officially retired on January 1, 2022. She has held leadership positions in public and community college library settings over the past 25 years. She was previously Chief of Staff for the District of Columbia Public Library and Director of Libraries for the Denton (Texas) Public Library. Ms. Poole is a past president of the Public Library Association, a division of the American Library Association and served as the PLA president in 2012-2013. She has been a member of PLA and the ALA since 1991, serving on numerous PLA, Library Leadership & Management Association (LLAMA), and ALA Committees, including the PLA Board of Directors, the LLAMA Board of Directors, and as an ALA Councilor at Large. She is also a past president of the Texas Library Association and the Texas Municipal League Library Director’s Association. Ms. Poole is a past president of the Rotary Club of Denton and the Rotary Club of Virginia Beach.
